IA 1&2 Update FAQs are up...New ork FW stuff too!

The IA's have some big changes in them...

IA1 Has the Valk and Vulture rules updated... The Punisher cannons are unfortunately TL, I'd rather have 40 shots...
No Rules for said Punisher cannon I could see other than it being Twin linked.
Both get Flyer rules for Apoc games for Free.

Get this Thunderbolt... NO AA mount on the Auto cannons any more
Get this Lightning HAS AA mount on Auto cannons.

Hydra...AA mount and auto targeting system...
Manticore 3 missiles now including AA missile

IA2

Dread drop pod is an Assault Vehicle now... Your Dread can now Assault on the turn is comes in...
WOW!

LRC 16 troop slots...
LRH 6 slots
LRP 10 and Battle Auspex rule... Night vision and -1 to all cover saves.

The new Ork stuff looks awesome too, only downer is that the new truck/tracks don't have weapons and you have to buy them separately or in a combo... Kinda like the Titans now.
The Grots are Funny as Hell too.

Photo updates on Apoc scenery.

Look what came in...6 bastions.... Ah-Oh ! Also the awesome Battlescape!

Here is the Base of the Big Ass Bastion.

Floor #2, and it's bigger than a FW book so that would be a good reference.Finished Fw Missile silo

Finished and weathered Hydra emplacement, the turret is also magnetized for when you what a tracked Hydra..The Twisted and bent Thunderhawk hull... looks a bit limp don't it?
It's too big to fit in a big boiling pot of H2o , so Heat gun...

Scuttlebutt: Nids Next after SW!

It's all but been confirmed GW the nids are next.

Yeah other web pages have been suggesting it, but it has all but been confirmed by one of the Lead designers (Phill Kelly at GD Germany) and one very reliable source at Warseer, that was the first to speak openly about Space Hulk and the Wolves.

Another key indicator:
The Nids box set is no longer up for order by independents
Gargoyles same
and the 4th ed nid dex is coming up hard to get too.

This would all fit with the rumored changes:
Less Metal/Metal Hybrid kits
return of "named " nids ( kind of... basically Vet battle hardened nids that are mutated"
4 new units... ( Trygon )
Better anti tank.

I'll say it once more , expect the Blood Angels next after the Nids and if not the Blood Angels , it will be a non codex Asteries , Asteries combo dex... BA/DA/BT. Yeah bite me to the Cron and DE players waiting to move in to the this century... GW is going to make stuff that actually sells in decent numbers and that would be Marine,Ork,Nid,IG, and Tau. They will come out when they are ready (Just like a Blizzard computer game)

Thunderhawk build....Terrrain build I should say
It's basically on hold. Due to the amount of work it will take to get going.
I have a ton of terrain I'm working on right now. I'll post picts tonight. Big ass Bastion ... 3 stories 2 panels by 2 panels, a lot of guns.... Smaller 1 and 2 story ones to follow too.

I hate that the Bastion does not come with Lascannons for the automated defences ... just the Heavy bolter option...lame, just like all the recent trends from GW on packing the boxes. Give people options but don't put the most popular one in the box, then release a $13 "upgrade" sprew 2-3 months later with said needed parts direct only. Also not enough roof panels are included to make big buildings so... plasti-card it is...

Daemon Adoptables
This is a kinda neat little sig to use. Currently you can "adopt" a daemon or a Nid( still some "bugs" with the nid ones) kinda like a Pok-a-mon. Pu tit in your sig , the more people click on it the more it grows or evolves ....http://www.heresy-online.net/daemons/index.php

It was to be a Nid...
Mine sucks right now...here is to hoping for Marines or Kroot for the next ones.

Terrain work &Thunderhawk pre build work

The Missile silo finished
The Hydra emplacement Finished
The Crashed Valk got it's first coat of Earth/dirt paint
The Sky Shield is primed.

Started pre planning on the B.A.B. I started looking at the kits and making sketches of what it will look like and how it will fit together... What's the B.A.B. you ask? Big @$$ Bastion.... or Castle might be more appropriate. I'm just hoping the 6 kits I have will be enough for it.

Thunderhawk
I started looking at the Hull that I'm having issues with... I'm starting to think I may want to give FW a call to see about getting a replacement. I think I could fix it , but is it worth my time and Effort is the main question. I'll put some picts up of it this weekend and let you all voice your opinion on the matter.

Photobucket Penis Police Strikes Again

I am re posting an edited version of MATT BUCHANAN's Landraider in the original Photobucket post. Apparently the original unedited version violated the TOS with them. I think this is being PC too much. This kind of art work is fine for painting on the Sistine Chapel for the world to see by the thousands per day but the moment that it goes on some GW model then stop the train folks!
This guy put a lot of work into this. Rumour has it that the model appeared in WD at some point. Because of the effort that went into making this wonderful work of ART I am posting on the blog. Hopefully this won't get us in trouble with blogspot. I would just hope that you can enjoy the pics that we got from the Big Waaagh.
BTW, I think what got us in trouble is that we named it the porn raider for it's title. You can find the original Creation of Adam pics all through Photobucket. It's either PB software or some uppity art no-it-all who got their feelings hurt.
There, my rant for the day is done.

Thunderhawk build : pre work

Ok Jason came over and we were looking at the Thunderhawk before I start.

It is very large.... and has a lot of parts, I did not count yet but it has to be close to the same number as the Reaver. It looks to be a very....Interesting ( for lack of a better word) build.

When I ordered it I "forgot" to order the 6 Hellstrikes for it... I was going to scramble and beg/borrow/steal them from the new plastic Valk kit to avoid having to order 3 packs at like $40-50 , but as a nice gesture for dropping $600 plus (375gbp) They included them all for "Free"
;)

One can tell this kit is much "older" than the Reaver. Meaning that they molding techniques and the case are not that good. In fact I may have to build a "Jig" to straighten the main fuselage, which was bent long ways. The mold lines on the larger parts don't look bad, but there is a ton of Flash gates and Flash... so there will be an inordinate amount of sanding and Dremil work.
Also a Heavy duty high temp Hair dryer or heated paint strip gun will definitely be in my immediate buy list. Most of the parts are Way to big to fit even in a large pot of boiling water to make them malleable, so I'm going to have to heat them up to right/true them. Also found some areas that I'm going to definitely need magnets for ( Heavy bolters & Hellstrikes, front ramp, main gun...)

Another "Clue" as to how old this kit is , is that the Instructions amount to 3 double sided photo copied sheets. Not like the Step by step 22+ pages the Reaver came with. Hell I think the Tigershark A-X-01 came with a better instructions and it is 1/3 the size and 2/3'rds less in price.
There is no "visual" parts guide in front of the build, Just 5 pictures with what each sub section "should " look like when Finished. There are a couple Highlight blow up sections that point to "tricky areas".

These are some of the reasons I'm dreading this build. I think it may really test my Modeling know how and skills. It's been a while, but I'm up to the challenge compared to some of the really easy kits recently.

The Reaver was a domesticated Tiger that has been hand raised with your family compared to this. More to come ...

I will detail this far further than I did with the Reaver here on line.

What's up Next?

Well since I won't be doing a Space wolf army , or a BA, Nid, or DE army I will have some time to "catch up" on some out lying projects.

Like terrain, DA Deathwing, their rides, and Tau tanks and Aircraft.

I just got a box from Nottingham today....
In it was some new goodies...
A Second Tri laser blaster for Li'bull for Ultimate Cheese in Apoc games.
A Thunder Turkey... or as Marine players call them a Thunderhawk

In fact Thunderhawk #839... Which is quite interesting since I've never seen one and only know Jama From Battlefoam has a Loota conversion. I did not think that many had sold.

That tells me some thing though 839 *375=roughly 315,000GBP that FW has collected. And Why has GW NOT made a plastic kit yet? Oh yeah because it would fly off the shelves... they must hate money lol!

Also got a Vulture with some Punisher Gats for under the wing...
I'll start the build soon , and I will put it up for all to see... It looks like a nice kit... big too, I like big ... must be over compensating for some thing...

Editorial: I'll say up front, I'm not impressed!

I let the hype get the better of me.

For the Amount of money GW is asking for Space Hulk I will not be getting it.
Not worth it, but I'm sure it will sell well. I was looking for a bit more for at that price point.
The Cardboard tiles for me are a big let down, and one of the reasons I won't vote with my pocket book. Even if it had come with some basic plastic tiles , GW could have issued Expansion kits with more later on.

The models/figures look to be some of the best sculpts from GW, but the non standard base may cause some issues if used in normal 40k. I sure if you want to you could glue them on a Standard Round base. The genestealers may cause some LOS issues , but this is a Board game, not standard 40k. I do know that there were a bunch of people looking to get this game just for the models though.

GW stores and black box store fronts ( Black box store is basically its a demo kit that select stores can get with pre release stuff) should have their demo kits latter this week , so I may have to make the trip and see what all the fuss is about.

Flame On!

SPACE HULK

From the depths of space an ancient vessel drifts slowly towards the Imperium of Mankind - a space hulk. Within its confines, untold thousands of Genestealers slowly emerge from hibernation. The Space Marines must enter the cramped corridors and tomb-like chambers of the ancient ship to defeat this alien menace.
Space Hulk is a board game for two players, recreating the battles fought between the Space Marines and Genestealers. One player commands the Space Marines as they carry out deadly missions in the ancient Space Hulk, and the other commands the horde of Genestealers opposing them. Space Hulk's fast-paced rules simulate the tense atmosphere of a mission deep inside the cramped confines of a derelict space hulk, where split-second decisions are needed for victory.

It's Space hulk...

I Win!

GD Germany pretty much was a bust. The high-light .....Forgeworld as per normal this year. Chaos reaver ( maybe for sale by GD UK), new Ork truck and other vehicles, and get this: seated IG for the troop bays in Valk/Vendettas ( like the hordes of DKoK in the Gorgons).

The Staff were wearing....Terminator shirts while the attendees could buy Nid/genestealers t-shirts.... Humm what could this be? The Color for said staff was ....RED.... Blood Angels?

Updated: (http://www.brueckenkopf-online.com/?p=6874) Red Termie helm with Nid Skulls on the other one.

GD big reveal was not at the GD but will be on an Email tomorrow.
100,000 box run (Update: May be larger but a limited run may go to Xmas time) , strict limit of 1 per customer. Any one else see an issue with this limited release....ebay price gouging to follow...

The pre order will start tomorrow with a store release of September 5th.
No word on price but I've heard 50-75GBP so like $85-123. For that price it better come with a lot , and apparently it weighs a ton ( 5.5 kilos).

Here's till tomorrow, hopefully I'll have more info on things other than SH.

The reatailer event was mostly WHFB skaven info with a touch of Wolves in Oct.

Phill Kelly let some info out on the wolves, but go check out warseer or Daka daka for that.
Basically : 2-4 boxes , can build a highly elite army or a troop based one. mainly built around Named Hq's

What's in the Box?

At just about every major 40k/GW fourm/newspage/blog there is a Thread that is very large....

!THE MYSTERY BOX!

Most people think it will be a version of Spacehulk...
But with some of the Gw info that has come out I'm clueless as tot he contents.

Limited 1 "print" run

Lower Numbers of production

Weight of box is 5.5 Kilos : just as a reference I just ordered a Thawk and Several Vultures and 2 Fw books , and that box weighed 6.5 kilos... and we all know Resin and hard back books weigh a ton. So either it is huge, has resin in it, or is absolutely jammed packed.

There are Tshirts being worn at GW stores with some interesting stuff on them

GW says that it has never been done before... so this is why the Spacehulk rumor has started to gather moss. Some still swear by it though.

There have been som 40k RPG based figures/ 3 x seen in some picts floating around with new item info sheets for said game. In one pict it looks like a Pit Beast and a Demurig... a Demurig is a basically a new fluff space Squat ( yes I said the S word shoot me) they are space traders that "help" the Tau and developed the Ion weapons that the Tau use. Think a Short "squat" humanoid in Terminator armor.... and Gencon is this weekend too, so with GW's German GD and Gencon going on it's a good time to launch a Board game or RPG....

The other rumor is it's a T-Halk, the weight is about right.... if it is I think I may buy a plane tix to Nottingham and go on a rampage at FW, since I literally just bought a T-Hawk. I happy to take one for the "Team" ( all Space Marine players) but the fact that I JUST bought one really does not sit well. The info is that there have been picts floating around of the Thawk prototype, It's been in WD and people did not realise it ( I did!) and some of the stuff coming out of GW is that to expect some really "LARGE" Apoc kits soon, and that the Thawk was like around 16 Baneblade sized Sprews and would take about 6 months of nothing but running the presses to get enough out for a splash release. Well GW in their Financial reports this year opened up a distribution/ FW mold facility / and Model manufacturing building in China to " keep up with the Demand".

Well we should find out this weekend, since they will start taking pre orders next week.
here's to it NOT being a Thawk.... Though I also would be very happy if it was...
I'm going 5/2 that it's Spacehulk.

I'm working on it...

Man I a busy little bee..

way to much to do, so little time.

I have several terrain pieces I'm working on right now.
I have been trying to get the Apoc game set up with Jason
I have been trying to catalog ALL of my growing armies...
I've started on another wave of Marine stuff ( 20 Tacs and slowly building up some sniper scouts, the camo takes a long time, 25 more termies :) )

Sorry I have not been putting up much Work has been bad this week.

Hopefully I'll have some more for you latter on...

There have been some funny rumors about the Tau and Crons getting updated next dex....lol, ROTFLOL

Space wolves
with some Orks around the turn of the year... for sure!

Then things get Hazy
Blood angels/nids
Ig ( LR and Bazzie) and Apoc some where in the mid spring
DE/Cron then BT/tau...
That is what I've heard but at this point nothing would surprise me.

Basically GW has stated that every thing is getting worked on that does not have a 5th ed dex. Next year Most people think that their will be 3 dexes and that Orks and Ig will fill out more as will Apoc. If BA come out in early spring that will be 3 Imp dexes in a row..( IG/SW/BA)and that will drive the Xenos players mad.....GW has Said next year will be a WFB heavy year and that 2011 will be a LOTR Hobbit heavy ( if the movie ever makes it out, lawsuits baby!) but most won't care about either of those lines.... Bring the Xenos !

But what do I know...

Question: When do you have TOO many Space Marines?

This might be the case...
In light of the movie release this weekend I thought I would break all the Marines out.

I lost track of what I had PAINTED.

I have around 10 Assault Marines, 15 more scout snipers, 2 LR Helios's, 1 LRC , 2 droppods, and 5 Vanguard marines Primed.
The boxed stuff would make you sick

Some highlights from the note I took:
27 DA Vets
More of the vets
The Command.... COBRA Command that is.
A measly 40 Tac marines painted. I'm not a big fan...
10 Sternguard with a strong Ordos Xenos flavor
Padro Cantor in Urban Camo (Firefly -esque)
Slamming Sammy on bike , 18 mixed Devs
My Aries LR Variant... Yes GW mine was finished last year , well before the new SW 3 TL Assault Cannon LR. Mine has 3 TL Assault cannons, A Demolisher Cannon, Spaced FW armor, but carries 0 troops. Also to the right is a FW LR Promie
LR Redeemer and a LRC
Another LRC
Ravenwing bikes. 12 bikers with 2 assault bikes, note the Pikes on most of the bikers.
18 Devs. The helms. are colors for each weapon type. All types of Vipers from the original Joe line, Heat , Laser, SAW, Incinerators, Heat v2...
Padro C. as Firefly can't really see the camo pattern
Az as Serpentor... WitD has the Cobra Helm
20 Assault Termies, 40 Regular Termies
8 Dreads
more of the Dreads (BATs) and a Techmarine (Technoviper)
LR Terminus Ultra w/Vet Sgt Chronus ( Hiss driver)
FW MKII B LR
3 FW Dread drop pods, 1 reg drop pod, you can really see the difference in size. The Dread one dwarf the new GW ones.

MotC and Siccaius (SP)

I'm getting close to being "Finished" but knowing GW there will be more marines released .... never ending.
Sorry about the quality of the picts, bad lighting out in the dining room.

Forge world....Bane to my pocket book...

Yes I have a problem...
Resin crack !

I'm getting ready for a large Fall /Xmas FW order. Yes I have very little control when I do this (that is how I ended up with a Reaver titan on a dare, Jason GRRRR!), and the wife wants to kill me every time she sees a box from merry ol' England on the front doorstep.

I See so much that I'm interested in but the one thing I was looking for was another Imp. Missile Silo like the one pictured in my last post....

Guess what ... They don't make it any more. What the Fudge!
Well that saved me some cash...

Until Jason talked me in to a T-hawk.... tool

I got you back with your damn Nids... Trygon, lol we know ones coming out... the plastic Thawk is like the lock ness monster or a Unicorn...

It may or may not exist and Who knows when it is coming out.

Hi My name is Jame and I am a Resin Addict.... :)

Sneak peak of an Up comming event.

The first of maybe 6-8 Bastions... hell they are much cheaper than FW stuff
and totally modular... You can even combine multiple kits ( hint hint). They are a great buy and very neat kit.

By the Way I did not pay for the Sky-shield... It has to be one of the worst kits ever made, and defiantly the worst kit since the Kroot-Ox.
(I won it at the BIG WAAAGH! for kicking ass with the Titans and taking out a lot of Ork and Chaos Titans....)
It can barely support the GW Valk, the FW will Crush it, trust me Me and Jason found out first hand. I'm going to have to reinforce it to take some heavy weight FW Air support kits ( hint hint)

A downed FW Valk! Nifty (hint hint)

FW missile silo. I'm sorry, I'm absolutely taken with this very basic kit. It's sturdy , heavy , highly detailed, and not too crazy expensive for a FW kit.

Bah! Mobile hydras are for sissy's , Fixed ones make awesome Terrain

These picts will give you a hint of what Jason and I are gearing up for this Fall. it should be fairly easy to guess what the theme maybe...

Couple hints:
It's themed...
It's gonna be "BIG" so big it just might be "Apocalyptic" in nature (Wink Wink).
These kits are just a the tip of the iceberg.
Lastly it will be Invites only.

If we don't know you or you are a ASS HAT you won't be invited.

LOL! ASS HAT thank you 40k radio guys... my new fav. phrase.

Unleash the HOUNDS of HELL pt2

Well it's finished , I magnetized the main weapon which was a P.I.T.A.
It required some quick dremil work to enlarge the opening and open the inside up to fit a tiny magnet.

The turret is neat in that it has Spaced armor... Nice touch! you can just barely see it in the heads on shot. You can only fit the armor on one way with the way every thing is slotted.

My few gripes are kinda minor I wish it the weapons were slotted like the ones on the new Demolisher kit. If you were going to run a full squadron of them magnetizing would be a long process.

There are no Accessories at all. There is no room to fit any thing else on the two sprews and GW has not included a IG tank upgrade sprew , no you have to pay an extra $13.50 for one of them...

Lastly for my it is just a Pet Peeve. Why are the weapons split in two? Could they have not molded them in one piece ?

Over all
+ Easy as Pie to put together
+ Good base kit for all the IG Light tanks
+ Highly detailed all plastic, so get modding!
+ Nice that all the weapon choices are included
+The Chem/Gas/Melta Fuel tank, hosing is crazy detailed! I'm sure some modders will make a fuel station out of it.
+ Neat little detail touches. Spaced Armor on turret! Heavy Armor on the front of the Hull

- The cost... No way this kit should cost the same thing as the Demolisher
- No Tank Accessory's...at all other than the Commissar with Gas mask
- Main weapons need a bit more work , They don't need to look like Adult Novelties.

It worth a good look, for me the cost would be the only thing prohibiting me from running a full squadron .

Unleash the HOUNDS of HELL

Ok here are the 2 sprews , That's it in the box except the cool high quality instructions ( that has fluff on it now) and the transfer sheet. No IG accessory sprews
The sides go together easy as pie, no road wheels to worry about ( YEAH!)

The treads are not marked as to deference the side, because they are the same, and they only go on one way... you cant screw them up... easy as pie
Here I start the mods so as to be able to swap out the hull weapon. I cut some plasticard and glued them on the inside of the cab on the top and bottom of the opening. Then I took a Polystyrine "I" beam i use for Cities of Death kits and glued it across the opening with the indention of the " I" facing outward. I put a small Rectangular Rare Earth magnet in there, and bam! Easy as pie swap outs , and the weapons sit like they are glued to the hull.
By the way this is what the base for all the IG "Light" tanks will be ( Hydra, Bassi, Chimera , ETC... so get a good look. The Inside of the hull is textured already.
And the hull from the back side...Look Mom textures!

The magnetized Hull weapons
Snap in place... it not as easy as the new Demolisher but it works....
The Chem/gas/melta fuel tanks , the mount on a platform the then is glued to the floor of the chassis.
Here are some more shots of the finished hull
I'll put up the Turret build and over all review of the kit Tomorrow night
Enjoy
